A friend asked me, "Happy Birthday!! You're 18 now?".
"Haha! Yes! :))" , I replied.
She interrupted me and laughed in disbelief, "HAHA! N-O!".
My friends still think I'm under 18. :)) Hell no, I just turned 18 on the 13th of February 2013. Freeedom!
Okay! so yeah. I wasn't able to update my blog even if I wanted to because my mom needs us. You can read what happen last January 10-until now on my other post click here. In this post, I would like to free my mind from any heartbreaking happenings and focus on what happened on my birthday.
Due to unexpected circumstances, I planned not to celebrate my birthday. But not really "NOT CELEBRATE" but a simple yet happy celebration would do. When a girl fully blooms at 18, usually they will be having a super extravagant party because that's traditional. And its called "Debut Party". If you ever watched "Ina, kapatid, anak" on ABS-CBN you would get what I mean. My celebration was a lot different from the traditional celebration, in fact, it was Surprisingly Unique (literally). Let me start by dividing this post into 3 main subtopics: Morning, Afternoon & Evening.
Morning
It was ASH WEDNESDAY, I woke up late so I didn't got the chance to go to the church first thing first. I had a class at 8:30 PHGC, luckily, I made it on time. When the reporters were about to begin, I was surprised when everyone suddenly sang "Happy Birthday" and I saw Joyce, Kathy and Jaella struggling to keep the candle on a little chocolate cake lighting with 3 balloons each on their hands. 2 flower-shaped and 1 heart-shaped balloon. I blow the candle and said thanks to my classmates and then the class resumed.
I thought that was it.
After the class:
Joyce had a meeting with her PHGC groupmates.
Jaella and Kathy went to robinsons. Jaella said she was hungry and would like kathy to accompany her to eat at robinsons. While Kathy handed Bik-Bik her little bag and asked bikbik to put it on the locker.
what. an. excuse.
That moment I wasn't really expecting something. But of course I knew there was something going on. Bikbik and I walked from Velez ASB building to the Old campus. I even told her, on the way to the locker that we will ride a jeepney cause my feet kind of hurt. (lol) But she suddenly replied with a strong "Ayaw! Inig balik na lang natu after P.E. ky kahas plete" when in fact she likes to ride a jeepney on the way to Velez Gym. I didn't get to realize it fully, not when we were near the Velez gym and she asked me to drop by 7Eleven cause she's thirsty and would like to buy natures spring. Again, I told her that "We are near the velez gym why won't you buy at our favorite little restaurant nearby?" She ignored me and continue to walk to 7eleven. Strangely, it took her 30 minutes deciding on what to buy but still ended up with nature spring, the very small one. When we were outside the 7eleven and on our way to Velez Gym, I guess she can't think of another excuse but to walk so slow. HAHA!
When we are near the Velez Gym, as in very near, I saw a one rose and heared one of my classmate screamed, "Oi guys, naa na siya" but too late they were still unprepared and I saw them laugh. Kathy push me away throught the entrance and said "Diha lang sa ka, ayaw sa pagsuod oi, nganu nisoud manka?! haha", Then I was left outside the gate, alone. I saw our P.E instructor and said, "Kinsai gihuwatan nimu diha?". "Ha? wala man sir, hehe", I replied doubting. And then here's what happened next:

Person(s) behind the 1st Surprise : My College Friends. I really dreamed of something like that on my 18th day. Thank you so much! |
AFTERNOON
Since its Wednesday my last class, cytogenetics was only until 3PM. Our leader in health care decided that we will have our interview on one of the secondary hospitals here in the city. We went to our chosen hospital near fuente osmena. We went there by foot with my roses and cake boxes (unfortunately, my batch mates murdered it. Especially, Karen and Jelian. But I’m still happy, they were so happy ^____^ that’s also the only way I could celebrate my birthday with them.) So yeah, I was the interviewer, I’m no good at speaking, but since, I was the only one capable of doing the task, and since, it’s my day, I decided to took the opportunity to do unordinary things. I was even thinking of donating my own blood but my weight, my weight is only 43kg!
After all the “Baga” face during the interview, together with Bik, Joyce and Jaella we decided to go to church since it is ash Wednesday. We had our foreheads cross-marked by ashes in Sto. Rosario church.
Even though I don’t have that much money to treat my friends, I still decided to treat them 50 pesos each. We walked our way to the Jelly Tea (our dream tea place). Jaella and Bikbik bought their tea at 75pesos. Joyce and I decided not to buy. And here’s what happened next:
My Highschool classmates surprised me with a CAKE! I am so happy! Jay-r, Jelly, my cousin KC and edilou. And as usual, it was joyce’s work.
I told them “manlibre ako. Yey! Pero jelly tea ra!”. But they refused, since they had to attend the next mass. So I said that we will wait for them at Jollibee. We waited so long, joyce eat a sundae and mine was chocolate twirly krunch (my fave).
And then they came with Vanessa. They first wrote a message to me on my white cartolina with messages from my college friends also.
We went to Perpetual Succour, but before we got there, we stopped by von’s apartment to invite him. And that’s the last place I saw my cartolina with all the messages. And the most heart-breaking of all? It’s when you still hadn't got the chance to read it. I AM SO SAD knowing the fact while riding a jeepney on our way to the hospital that it vanished, disappeared, gone, forever!
EVENING
On that night, it was VERY TRAFFIC. We were travelling for over an hour. I was so nervous of what will I offer for them. So I texted my ate to prepare something. Cause really from the start I did not planned on bringing them to the hospital. While waiting in Jollibee, I thought they won’t take long but they were back by 6:30pm. Well, what would they expect for time like that? I was only planning on treating them at jelly tea for a tea. And I also thought, they will just ‘visit’ my mom. I really don’t know what to do.
When we arrived, I walk straight to our private room’s CR because of the red spots on my white uniform (Girls, you know what I mean). When I enter the room, I was surprised when my kuya put up some decorations and stuff on the wall (still doing unfinished business). I changed into red blouse and blank pants.
My ate said on the way to the elevator “Den, mangadto rkn ta sa ayala. Didto mo rkn librehon imu mga classmate, ky wayay gjud ato handa diri”. However, when we were outside the elevator, she suddenly turned right, and I heared them sing a happy birthday song for me. I am so happy and this time I am really surprised. I saw everyone sitting on the wide table, where nurses used to have their lunch. I did not expect that my ate bought me cakes, cupcakes, pizzas, pancit and bread. It wasn't an extravagant celebration but everyone was there to make me smile and made my day.
Even though this was the first birthday that my mom was not there *I meant, she was there, but not actively and consciously there*. I still thank Lord for all the wonderful people I have. For my closest friend, Joyce, who planned all the surprises. For my ate, who even though we don’t have extra money for celebration she still bought me foods and drinks. For my ate cai-cai, who served as our clown every day. For angie and daya, for the effort of buying the foods and drinks at ayala. For my kuya, who helped at decorating the room. My College and High school friends for making my 18th day extra special especially, Jaella’s babies. And for my parents who brought me into this world. Thank you very much! That’s the BEST birthday celebration I had ever have!
My wish?
It is for my family, especially, my mother. That the lord will give her 2nd life and He will bring her back to us. Just like what she used to: Always Active, Always Happy, Always Smiling, Always Faithful, Always Cheerful, Always kind-hearted, Always loving Always a fighter, Always the best person, Always the BEST MOM! I love you ma! Even though, I hadn't heard you say happy birthday to me and kiss me on the check just like what you always did on my birthdays, I still can feel your love. I still can feel your presence. I feel that you also wanted to celebrate my birthday with me actively. But don't worry mama, I understand. In fact, I am 18 now, I am big enough to understand the situation. And You know what? You are the BEST GIFT GOD HAD EVER GIVEN TO ME ON MY 18TH BIRTHDAY. YOU BEING ALIVE. YOUR PRESENCE PHYSICALLY. EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN'T SPEAK. I THANK THE LORD FOR GIVING YOU TO ME. MA YOU NEVER GAVE UP ON US. I KNOW YOU ARE A FIGHTER. AND WE WILL NEVER EVER GAVE UP ON YOU ALSO. MA WE WILL WAIT FOR YOU RETURN. NO MATTER HOW MANY YEARS IT WOULD TAKE YOU TO RECOVER AS LONG AS WE CAN STILL TOUCH AND KISS AND HUG AND CAN TALK TO YOU. IT IS ENOUGH. I LOVE YOU MAMA! I HAVE NEVER BEEN THIS SAD AND AT THE SAME TIME HAPPY IN MY LIFE. I LOVE YOU MA! AND I AM SORRY THE LAST TIME I TALKED TO YOU. I WILL ALWAYS HOPE AND ALWAYS PRAY THAT YOU WILL BE WELL AGAIN. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH MA! PA! ATE! KUYA! ATE CAI-CAI! ANGIE! DAYA!
MY FRIENDS! EVERYONE! I LOVE YOU LORD!
I was the happiest person that night.
